Vi har glede til å presentere unike stedspesifikk installasjoner, skapt av Beili Liu, på Brusand tog stasjon, som skal forvandle rommet i gamle billettkontoret.
Beili Liu’s tid- og prosessbasert installasjoner se på forgjengeligheten, skjørhet og tids utløpe. Hennes installasjoner er ofte laget av en enkelt materiale, som bearbeides på hånd av kunstneren, for å skape multiples, som bygger opp til å samhandle med mellomrom de okkuperer, som 3-D tegninger: volumet i rommet er uthevet, og den negative mellomrom mellom og rundt formene er aktivert.
Liu’s arbeid er avhengig av en tilkobling til valgt materialet og sin dialog med plassen den opptar. For en av hennes installasjon i billettkontoret, vil hun skape et verk med tittelen ”half empty. half full.” Dette arbeidet, sammensatt fra siv som er brukt ved kurvfletning, vil halvfylle volumet av rommet. Besøkende vil kunne gå under installasjonen, noe som vil dramatisk opptar den øvre halvdelen av stedet.

Liu ble født i Jilin, Kina, og nå bor og arbeider i Austin, Texas. Hun er for tiden en assisterende professor i kunst ved University of Texas i Austin.

We are delighted to announce that artist Beili Liu will produce a unique site-specific installation at Brusand train station, that will transform the space of the old ticket office.
Beili Liu's time and process based installations look at transience, fragility and time lapse. Her installations are often created from a single material, that is worked on manually by the artist, to create multiples, that build up to interact with the spaces they occupy like 3-D drawings: the volume of a space is highlighted; the negative space between and around the forms is activated.
Liu’s work depends on a genuine connection to the chosen material and its dialogue wih the space it occupies. For her installation in the ticket office, she will create a work titled half empty.half full. This work composed from reed used in basket weaving will half fill the volume of the space. Visitors will be able to walk under the installation which will dramatically occupy the upper half of the space.
As one who comes from the East and lives in the West, I have experienced two distinct and often contradictory value systems. These experiences constantly influence each other, at times create conflicts in my life, yet other times offer great inspirations for my work." —Beili Liu
Liu was born in Jilin, China, and now lives and works in Austin, Texas. She is currently an assistant professor of art at the University of Texas at Austin.
