Den aller siste utstilling på Brusand tog stasjon er klar for avgang!
Neil Morley har tatt en virtuell rundtur i Rogaland, dette ved hjelp av en bok (utgitt i 1987, som viser området) sendt til han av Elizabeth Croft.
Kunstneren har aldri vært i Norge, men har skrevet en reisedagbok som beskriver "reisen" rundt Rogaland. I denne utstillingen presenterer han malerier som er basert på hans visuelle inntrykk av "reisen".
Morley har skapt arbeider som inneholder elementer fra bilder funnet i boken.
Turen som begynner i Hafrsfjord, og tar inn kulturelle høydepunkter som musikk og kunst fra området, avsluttes med en tur til Bryne fotballstadion og et marked hvor rødbeter og gulrøtter er til salgs.
Morley er opptatt av hvordan vi opplever reiseliv, og hvordan et samfunn ønsker å bli oppfattet av turister. Utstillingen er en videreføring av hans pågående interesse for politikken rundt representasjon.

The last ever exhibition at Brusand train station is ready for departure!
Artist Neil Morley has taken a virtual tour of Rogaland, by means of a promotional book from 1987, sent to him by gallerist Elizabeth Croft.
The artist has never been to Norway but has written a tour itenirary, recording his “journey” around Rogaland and in this exhibition, presents paintings that show his visual impressions of the “trip”.
Morley has created a series of multi-layered paintings, containing elements from images found in the book, at chosen tourist-stops along his route.
Starting in Hafsfjord, and taking in cultural highlights such as music and painting from the area, Morley completes his journey with a trip to Bryne football stadium and a market where beetroots and carrots are for sale.
In his work, Morley deals with how we experience travel and tourism, and how a society wishes to be perceived by the tourist. The exhibition is a continuation of his ongoing interest in the politics of representation.
